Student and Parent Handbook

Dear Litchfield Elementary School District Families,

Welcome to a new school year in the Litchfield Elementary School District. The first day of school in our district was held with eleven pupils on October 9, 1917. This year we open with 17 schools, including our new Digital Learning Academy for online students who choose to access our educational excellence and live teaching lessons from the comfort of their own home.

Our mission is to connect, educate, and empower our LESD family and community. Our teachers and staff members take great pride in providing academic rigor in a caring environment. It is our honor to provide award-winning schools, high quality teachers, and nurturing support staff to help your child succeed at school and in life. We are committed to working with you and your child to ensure a safe learning environment and a culture of excellence.

We believe that positive social interaction and appropriate behavior are important components of your child’s emotional and academic success in our award-winning district. This handbook includes helpful resources and important information about Litchfield Elementary School District’s academic and behavioral expectations. I encourage you to review this handbook with your child.

Thank you for choosing Litchfield Elementary School District. We look forward to partnering with you and your child for an excellent school year.

Your partner in education,
Jodi Gunning, M.Ed.
Superintendent
